i ordered this as the photo showed genuine dell. I had ordered a knock off that lasted about a month and wanted a dell product. The unit that arrived today–great service–they sent a shipping notice saying it was shipped and would take up to 3 weeks to receive but was here in one day. The device looks good but no dell markings so we shall see how long it lasts. If it lasts I’ll be back with a happy 5 stars.

If you are shopping for a Dell Adapter and trying to find a cheaper replacement for the original which costs around $50, you might have already read the hundreds of bad reviews for the cheaper ones. During my research I came across this as the only one which had decent positive reviews so I decided to order it. Unfortunately, the adapter is NOT able to charge my Inspiron 1525 battery. My Laptop can work plugged in, but I need the original adapter to charge the battery (Obviously not a good option if you want to work unplugged). The primary reason I wanted a replacement was because I tripped on my original one and that caused a loose connection. Of course I wanted to save as much as I could on it but looks like that is not going to happen.
The product had a DELL logo and Serial No. and looks everything like the original so it looks like an OEM. The Ampere rating is 4.62A (My original one was 3.34A) which indicates higher power so I am not sure whats going on.
I would not recommend trying your luck with this one…

The adapter works in powering the computer but DOES NOT charge the battery of the Inspiron 1525 (of which it advertises to do so)…a disappointing purchase to say the least.

Here is the answer to the million dollar question… Yes, this charger actually CHARGES the Dell laptops. It is a 90W charger. The cheap ones are of 60W and don’t charge the laptop but only supply power when plugged in.
I had to read a lot of reviews to get this question answered. So here it is, go ahead and buy it! It’s the real thing! The service and delivery is also excellent.
